Lea Hough’s Planning and Development team have recently been involved in the sale of land that will see 50 high quality homes being built in North Blackburn.

Lea Hough were appointed by Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School Old Boys Association to project manage the planning and marketing of two redundant football pitches.

This involved several stages, beginning with the initial conceptual promotion with the Local Planning Authority at Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council. Our role also involved liaising with Sports England and a range of voluntary sporting and religious bodies, before securing Planning Consent for a viable residential redevelopment of the pitches. Following on from this, our team selected a preferred developer, before entering into negotiations to secure the best possible price for the land.

Lea Hough’s Planning team successfully managed the project through to the final sale of the land to national house builder, Miller Homes. The proposed site plans will see a mixture of 3 and 4 bedroom quality homes being constructed, with building set to commence early in 2020.

Our Surveyor, Richard Prest, commented:

“We are delighted to have been able to assist Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School Old Boys Association with the sale of these disused football pitches. The development of suitable land for new housing generally brings economic growth to an area and, in this case, the developer was selected as they are renowned for building high quality schemes, which will fit in well with the area’s surrounding homes.

“The successful sale of the land also means a multi-million pound receipt for the Association, which will benefit a wide range of educational/sporting projects linked to Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School in Blackburn.”

Lea Hough’s Planning and Development team have been involved in several land sales throughout Lancashire over the course of the last 12 months. We can advise landowners at an early stage on the most appropriate course of action, or else can become involved further down the line, for example when a site already has a planning application in process, or has existing planning consents.
