Lea Hough Chartered Surveyors are delighted to see works commence on site for the Redwood Extension Project at Edgar Wood Academy, Middleton, on behalf of Altus Education Partnership, a Multi Academy Trust.
The £1.7 million development comprises a 495m² will provide a purpose-built SEND accommodation, dedicated inclusion facilities and a new student entrance. Designed to support the academy’s continued growth, the extension will deliver specialist teaching spaces, sensory facilities, breakout areas, inclusion classrooms and secure external learning environments, promoting accessibility, safeguarding and inclusion.
Having supported the project from its earliest stages, Lea Hough provided feasibility studies, architectural design, planning consultancy and budget costing/funding support, with the scheme funded in part by Rochdale Borough Council. We also coordinated the technical design process, tender process and contractor procurement, preparing the scheme for construction.
Lea Hough continues to provide Project Manager, Contract Administrator and Principal Designer services throughout the construction phase, overseeing project delivery on behalf of the client.
W Monks (Longridge) Ltd has now commenced works on site, with site establishment, preliminary construction underway, piled foundation and ground beams cast, and structural steel frame erected. The project remains on programme for completion in February 2027.
