Five flat roofs at the academy were suffering from ongoing leaks/water entry, which had caused damage to the internal fabric, creating a poor teaching environment. Funding was approved for the renewal of the coverings to all five flat roofed areas, with the new built-up Felt Roof System providing a 20 year insurance backed guarantee. The roofs were also fully insulated to modern-day Building Regulations Standards. The works reduced the school’s maintenance costs, improved the school’s energy efficiency, whilst enhancing the teaching environment and increasing pupil attainment.
All works were funded via the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) with Lea Hough having prepared the CIF funding application (on a no-charge basis) on the academy’s behalf, prepared all specifications, designs, drawings, tendered the works to achieve competitive tender prices and carried out full project-management through to overall completion.
