The boilers in three of the school’s buildings were all decades old. They were in a very poor condition, defective, and at the end of their useful lives. New gas boilers, plant, pipework, radiators, convector heaters and controls were installed which provided the school with an energy efficient heating system. The works improved the heating provision and controllability to all buildings, enhancing the teaching and learning environment. The School now has the security of heat to all classrooms during the winter months.
All works were funded via the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) with Lea Hough having prepared the CIF funding application (on a no-charge basis) on the academy’s behalf, prepared all specifications, designs, drawings, tendered the works to achieve competitive tender prices and carried out full project-management through to overall completion.
