The existing facilities within the KS2 classrooms and main assembly hall at the school were very dated, creating a poor environment that was not conducive to learning. The condition of the ceilings, floors, walls and overall finishes deteriorated to the extent that complete refurbishment was required. Fire protection was inadequate, which proposed health and safety concerns to staff and pupils. The full refurbishment works included new installation of acoustic suspended ceilings (incorporating new LED lighting), over cladding of old ceramic dado tiling with associated plaster repairs and upgrading glazed screens which improved fire protection and acoustic performance to adjoin hall. This resolved all of the issues and brought the facilities up to a good standard that can be maintained for a number of years to come, and will improve pupil morale and attainment.
All works were funded via the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) with Lea Hough having prepared the CIF funding application (on a no-charge basis) on the academy’s behalf, prepared all specifications, designs, drawings, tendered the works to achieve competitive tender prices and carried out full project-management through to overall completion.
