The Sports Block at the academy was constructed in 1967 and had remained virtually unchanged since original construction. Both the external fabric of the building and the internal was in a poor, run-down condition. CIF Funding was approved for the whole sports block to be refurbished, which included upgrading the external fabric, replacing the heating system, renewal of flat roof coverings, internal alterations to improve layout, and complete internal refurbishment of the sports hall, changing facilities and toilets, etc. New lighting and electrics were also installed. The works significantly improved the school’s sports facilities, which are now attractive to future pupils and letting opportunities, whilst reducing the schools Carbon Footprint.
All works were funded via the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) with Lea Hough having prepared the CIF funding application (on a no-charge basis) on the academy’s behalf, prepared all specifications, designs, drawings, tendered the works to achieve competitive tender prices and carried out full project-management through to overall completion.
