Lea Hough is pleased to announce a number of school improvement projects that will go ahead in summer 2025 funding via School Condition Allocation (SCA) funding.
Working closely with the Blackburn Diocese and Carlisle Diocese, Lea Hough supported several Church of England schools in preparing and “applications” for SCA funding, for much-needed building improvement works.
The SCA funding process in Blackburn and Carlisle sees both dioceses receive a central pot of government funding t (on SCA allocation), which they then distribute among their voluntary aided schools. The process is always highly competitive, with “applications” being made by multiple schools across Lancashire and Cumbria. It is only after a detailed assessment process that it is decided which projects will go ahead, using the SCA funding.
We are delighted that a number of the projects that we proposed this year have been supported by the dioceses, and approved, meaning that essential improvement works will be able to proceed during the 2025 summer holiday, in conjunction with each schools Development and Maintenance Plan.
The approved schemes include a range of vital building an works, as follows:
Carlisle Diocese
- Keswick St. Herbert’s Primary, Cumbria – Fire Alarm Replacement Project
- Endmoor St. Patrick’s Primary, Cumbria – Roofing Project
- Langdale CE Primary, Cumbria – Kitchen Refurbishment Project

- Howick CE Primary School, Preston – Renewal of Pitched & Flat Roof Coverings

Our team of School Building Consultants are now working with each school to get plans finalised and contractors appointed so that works can take place over the school holidays, minimising disruption to pupils and staff.
SCA-funded projects not only help schools maintain safe and suitable learning environments but also ensure long-term cost efficiency and sustainability of buildings. We are proud to continue supporting the local dioceses to achieve these outcomes, helping school communities in our local area.
