The Woodland Trust, the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity, has retained the services of Lea Hough into another year, having first established a working relationship in 2020. The Woodland Trust, which owns extensive forest land, rural estates and property, employ the services of our team to advice and provide professional services in relation to various property related matters.

We have assisted the Trust with their sites at Smithills at Bolton, estates in North Yorkshire, and in South Derbyshire.

During our tenure as consultants, we have undertaken a variety of surveying tasks, including:-

  • Measured surveys of buildings.
  • Accurate floor plan drawings of houses, farm buildings and barns, and site plan drawings.
  • Insurance reinstatement valuations of tenanted properties, and barns, by our RICS Registered Valuers.
  • Investigations into old septic tank installations, and advice regarding replacement with modern sewage treatment plants.
  • Condition Survey Reports on tenanted farms, in relation to Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), to identify repairs and advise regarding budget costs and prioritisation of works.
  • Scoping works for a proposed repairs and planned maintenance project to a barn.
  • Structural inspection and advice regarding maintenance/repair work to a dam and wall.
  • Drawings for a planning application for a new entrance off a road, to enable trees to be planted on a site that the Woodland Trust will acquire.

As a multi-disciplinary practice of Chartered Building Surveyors, Chartered Valuation Surveyors and Architectural Technicians, we are able to provide a range of services for the Trust and other rural clients.

We offer a diverse base of surveying skills that cater for all of the property requirements of rural clients. As well as The Woodland Trust, we have also acted for the Duchy of Lancaster, The National Trust, and Councils who own rural property and tenanted farms.

After a good start with working together between Lea Hough and The Woodland Trust, we expect this to become a long and prosperous working relationship.
