Lea Hough Chartered Surveyors is pleased to have played a pivotal role in the ongoing development of Bank Hey, a strategic housing site in Blackburn with Darwen. The site, which has now been sold to Persimmon Homes, is set to deliver approximately 555 new homes.

The Bank Hey development exemplifies how strategic land allocation and careful planning can facilitate large-scale housing projects. Lea Hough was instrumental in securing the site’s allocation, working closely with a consortium of five landowners to ensure that the development was viable and could proceed smoothly through the planning process.

One of the key challenges in bringing the Bank Hey site to market was overcoming access and topographical issues. Lea Hough took a leading role in managing and procuring a range of specialist consultants to address these challenges. This included working with experts in transportation, drainage, ecology, and environmental assessments to ensure that all necessary technical and planning requirements were met.

By successfully navigating these complex issues, Lea Hough helped facilitate the sale of the site to Persimmon Homes. Following the submission of a masterplan, the development has taken a significant step forward.

The site will consist of up to 555 new homes, to include terraced, semi-detached and detached properties ranging from 2 to 5 bedrooms. With over 35 acres of public open spaces will be provided including large sections of retained woodland and a village green to enhance natural habitat for local wildlife, the site will contribute to the wider regeneration of this area of Blackburn.
