A recent study has identified that two of the three most ‘affordable’ areas in the UK to buy new build property are located in Lancashire. According to the figures compiled by money.co.uk, the most affordable place in the UK for new build homes is Hyndburn. The average price of a new-build home in the area is £137,072. Burnley also features in the survey’s top three locations, coming in after North Ayrshire, with an average price of £177,798.
In a time where there is a continuing ‘cost of living’ crisis, access to housing at the ‘affordable’ end of the scale is important for prospective property owners. This is especially the case for first time buyers following the end of the Help to Buy scheme.
Buying a new build home is often viewed as an attractive option; with the idea of having a newly ‘finished’ home to move into seeming like an easy route.
However, buying a new build isn’t always as straightforward as you might expect. In fact, a large majority of buyers of new build properties have reported problems including snags or defects after moving in. These can vary in severity with not all issues being serious. However, they often cause inconvenience and can result in additional unexpected costs for repairs.
It is therefore always a sensible step to instruct a Chartered Surveyor to undertake a Snagging Inspection Report.
A Snagging Inspection is designed specifically to check for problems with a new-build home so the developer can take measures to resolve any defects before you complete on the property.
Lea Hough Chartered Surveyors is able to offer New Build Snagging Inspection reports for new build home purchases across Lancashire. To find out more about our services for new-build properties or to obtain a quote for a Snagging Report, please contact us.
