We are proud to celebrate the outstanding academic achievement of Mattie Holden, who has been awarded a First Class Honours Degree in Building Surveying (BSc Hons) from Nottingham Trent University.
Mattie began his degree in 2021 and joined Lea Hough Chartered Surveyors in summer 2023 as part of his year-long industry placement. During his time with us, Mattie quickly became a valued member of the team, contributing across a wide range of projects and gaining hands-on experience in the field. His dedication and professionalism impressed us from day one, and we were delighted when he chose to continue working with us part-time throughout his final year of studies.
As a further testament to his hard work and commitment, Mattie was named Runner-Up Placement Student of the Year across the entire Nottingham Trent University, a significant accolade that reflects the high standard of his performance both academically and professionally.
As an Assistant Building Surveyor, Mattie works across a wide range of projects within our Building Surveying team. His role includes assisting with survey inspections and condition assessments, carrying out measured surveys and preparing land registration plans, producing architectural designs and specifications, and supporting contract administration and tendering processes. He is also involved in preparing funding applications for education sector clients, ensuring CDM compliance, and monitoring construction projects.
Much of Mattie’s work is focused on commercial properties and educational buildings, particularly within the schools and academies sector. He regularly undertakes site inspections, tracks progress on construction schemes, and supports colleagues with more complex projects by preparing drawings, liaising with clients and contractors, and helping to deliver high-quality outcomes across the board.
