Following the government’s latest announcement and a second country-wide lockdown for England, level, we would like to take the opportunity to clarify to clients the position for Chartered Surveying services.

The Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick has confirmed that the housing market will ‘remain open’ throughout the period, with renters and buyers still able to move, with those assisting the process, such as removal firms and estate agents still able to operate. The construction industry will also remain open during the national lockdown, and tradespeople will be able to enter homes.

We can therefore reassure clients that we are able to continue to provide our services as ‘normal’ during the lockdown period, whilst taking sensible steps to protect our staff and those in the properties that we are required to enter.

Our team take every precaution when entering into a home or place of work to undertake our professional investigations, including the wearing of face coverings, social distancing, the use of hand sanitisers, and avoiding touching surfaces wherever possible. A member of our office team will also phone ahead before the scheduled appointment to check that none of the occupants are experiencing any symptoms of Covid-19 or are self-isolating. If any symptoms are reported, we will re-schedule the appointment for a later date.

We are also happy to adhere to any additional rules or procedures in place at any of the properties or sites we visit.

Since the loosening of restrictions following the first wave of Coronavirus, our team have been extremely busy undertaking reports on both residential and commercial properties. The stamp duty cut has further increased demand for our residential services, and at the same time, we have been pleased to have been able to proceed with and take instructions on new work across several of our other sector areas, including education, commercial, public sector and rural.

We would like to thank the clients that have instructed us over the past few months – and those that continue to do so going forward.
