Lea Hough Chartered Surveyors have been appointed to manage a large project to replace existing old single-glazed curtain walling at Burscough Priory Academy.
The project, which involves two phases and several areas of the school, will replace the decades-old single-glazing that had very poor appearance. The project will bring a modernised overall appearance whilst also improving energy efficiency.
Phase one of the project includes the installation of new coated aluminium curtain walling frames and cladding in anthracite grey. The new double-glazed units are tinted to improve thermal efficiency and reduce solar gain. Furthermore, the cavity is provided with insulation to improve sound insulation and fire-stopping. Noise transfer between classrooms will also be reduced.
The project, which is ongoing currently, is being funded through SCA.
The works will result in vastly improved aesthetic of the school, significantly improved thermal efficiency (double-glazed instead of single glazed) and therefore reduce the school’s carbon footprint, whilst creating a better working environment for both pupils and staff.
Lea Hough have been involved with the project from its inception, preparing all specifications, designs, drawings, tendering the works to achieve competitive tender prices and are carrying out full project-management through to completion.
