I chose to live there
because: I have always lived in Blackburn; however, when I graduated from
university and landed a full-time job it was time to buy my first house. I work
on Buckshaw Village and my wife works in Tarleton. Leyland was an obvious
choice as it is nestled between the two and has great transport links in all
directions. Plus, its only 10/15 minutes away from Blackburn.
How long have you
lived there: I am still a bit of a ‘newbie’ having only moved to Leyland in
March of 2016. Having said that, it is only a relatively small town and I have
gotten to know the area quite well.
I like living there
because: Location, location, location. For me, Leyland is situated in the
perfect location with the M6, M65 and M61 motorways all being located close by,
along with a train station that goes directly to both Liverpool and Manchester.
The convenience of Preston to the North is also a huge benefit, with plenty of
bars/restaurants and a good range of shops and amenities. Leyland has a great
sense of community, with the local market, small high-street and various
carnivals and parades. In 2017, South Ribble was also voted the best place to
live for people in their 20’s!
My favourite things
to do locally: Leyland high-street is a brilliant place with a mixture of
local shops, the market and lots of bars and restaurants. We really are spoilt
for choice; for such a small place there really are a whole host of options. It
is also great to get involved with the local events such as; Leyland Festival
and other events such as the Leyland Truck Trail.
The best hidden gem
in my local area: I love to go fishing in my spare time and there are lots
of venues in and around Leyland, Chorley and the surrounding areas. If you are
not into fishing, the surrounding countryside and country parks offer a wealth
of opportunity for a weekend stroll with the family.
Three reasons I would
recommend my area to people:
The location of Leyland is a massive benefit,
with three motorways and great rail links.
Leyland is a fairly small town with a great
sense of community.
Leyland has a lot to offer with country parks,
local shops, bars and finally restaurants.
Favourite building in
Lancashire: I may be slightly biased because it is where I recently got
married; however, my favourite building in Lancashire is Eaves Hall. Located in
the Ribble Valley on the outskirts of Clitheroe – Eaves Hall is a traditional
Georgian country manor house, set within beautiful grounds.
