Name: James Leech
Position at Lea Hough: Surveyor & RICS Registered Valuer
I’m originally from: Lancaster
I live in: Fulwood, Preston
I chose to live there because: It’s a convenient location for getting up to Lancaster and seeing family, and it’s also a good, central base for getting around Lancashire for Surveying purposes.
How long have you lived there?: I moved here this year, from Lancaster where I’ve lived for most of my life.
I like living there because: It’s a friendly and quiet suburban part of Preston with plenty of greenery but within striking distance of the City Centre and all the facilities there.
My favourite things to do locally are: Take my dog for a run in the morning, enjoy a meal at the Phantom Winger up the road and try to stay out of Costa Coffee!
The best hidden gem in my local area is: I’m still finding my way around but there are plenty of nearby parks and little wooded paths in Fulwood which are great for walks.
Three reasons I would recommend my area to people: Fulwood is a generally good area – quiet and family friendly with good access to the motorway and into Preston. House prices (for the existing housing stock at least) seem reasonable too, in terms of both renting and buying – I think you get a lot for your money. In terms of Preston, there seems to be a lot of investment going on, which can only be a good thing.
Favourite local building: Fulwood Barracks is probably the most impressive building locally to me. Choosing from Preston generally, I’ve always liked Winckley Square as a landmark.
