It’s hard to believe that we’re now at the start of yet another New Year.  We wish all of our clients a great 2024!

2023 was yet another busy and successful year for the firm.  For all of our departments from our Survey and Valuation Team to our Education Team, it was a non-stop year in terms of inspecting properties, providing reports, and helping clients.

Here we summarise the work across our departments during 2023, and we look at some of the most memorable jobs we were involved with during last year.

Residential Valuations and Surveys

As ever, our residential Survey and Valuation Team had a busy year. Through every season and no matter the weather, our team visited properties throughout the North West to inspect and prepare reports such as Valuations, Home Buyer Reports and Building Survey Reports.

Commercial Valuations and Surveys

Our commercial Building Surveyors and commercial Valuers similarly had a busy year, working with commercial clients to prepare Pre-Acquisition Surveys, Schedules of Condition, Dilapidations Reports and Valuations. Our commercial clients also kept us busy this year with project-management work, new-build developments and party wall work.

RAAC Surveys

2023 has been the year when RAAC concrete raised its ugly head. Our team have been instructed by many schools, Multi Academy Trusts, commercial property occupiers, and local authorities to inspect and assess for RAAC.

Land and Development

We were pleased to have been able to continue to assist landowner clients in 2023 and we brought a number of land deals to successful conclusions. This will pave the way for new homes to be built in the area. Large development deals were concluded in Coppull, Longton, Blackburn and Darwen.

Local authority work

We were instructed to undertake a number of large Asset Valuation commissions of portfolios of council-owned properties. Furthermore, we’ve been involved with heritage project work that has been going on in the region – notably that in Burnley.

Schools and Colleges

Throughout 2023, we were as busy as ever assisting schools and colleges with funding applications and delivering much-needed improvement projects. The year finished with a big push to submit the CIF and SCA funding bids for 2024/25.

In what was the firm’s 40th year in business, 2023 was such a positive year, and we were able to assist more clients than ever before, helping them to make informed decisions about properties. We look forward to welcoming two new members to the team in January 2024 in what we hope will be another busy and varied year!
