Michael Harrison, Partner at Lea Hough, has completed a charity walk, raising over £7000 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
The hike, which took place over the weekend of 21st-22nd September, saw Michael, along with Paul Harrison, Stuart Bolton, Harry Bolton and Phil Croasdale, walk from Kendal Town Fc to Longridge Town Fc – a distance of over 50 miles. Two other walkers also joined the quintet on the first day – John McDonald, whose dad has just been diagnosed, and his cousin Tom Denby.
The charity walk was organised in memory of George Melling and Barry “Bert” Ollerton. Bert, Michael’s brother-in-law, was diagnosed with MND in 2012 and after a long battle with the disease passed at the age of 50 in in 2020, leaving his wife, Simone and two young daughters, Lauren and Grace.
Living with MND is extremely difficult and the money raised will go to the Motor Neurone Disease Association to support those people suffering with MND and their families. Those living with MND require constant care and the funds raised will support families in providing items such as over bed tables, specialist tablets devices to help with communication, specialist wheelchairs, nursing support and alterations to accommodation to make life a little easier.
The MND Association focus on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The aim of the walk was to raise £5000 to support those suffering with MND. The team of walkers have received fantastic support and the running total raised is in excess of £7,000 including Gift Aid.
Every penny counts and further donations will allow the MND Association to provide even more support to the individuals and families struggling with the impact of this devastating disease. To show your support and donate, visit the Just Giving page.
