Kingsway Park High School Sports Hall Floor Replacement

Lea Hough Chartered Surveyors are delighted to have recently completed a major improvement project at Kingsway Park High School in Rochdale, involving the full replacement of the sports hall floor.
The existing timber floor had reached the end of its serviceable life, showing signs of significant wear and tear that affected both performance and safety. To restore the facility and provide students with a modern, durable, and fit-for-purpose space, the decision was taken to install a new specialist sports flooring system.

Our Role

Working closely with the school’s leadership team, Lea Hough provided full project management and surveying services, including:

  • Assessing the existing sports hall floor and advising on the most suitable specialist replacement.
  • Preparing technical specifications and tender documents.
  • Tendering the works to contractors and advising on selection.
  • Acting as Contract Administrator, including site inspections and quality monitoring.
  • Managing financial matters, including valuations, payment applications and the contractor’s final account.

The Outcome

The project was successfully delivered during the summer holiday period, ensuring no disruption to the school timetable. The new specialist sports floor has transformed the sports hall, creating a high-quality environment for PE lessons, sports clubs and wider school activities.

The project has provided a long-term, sustainable solution without any financial burden on the School’s budget.
