At Lea Hough Chartered Surveyors, we are looking forward to starting a busy summer carrying out CIF improvement projects at several academy schools across Lancashire. In our role as School Building Consultants, we are proud to be at the forefront of improving educational facilities and ensuring the best learning environments for students in Lancashire.
The summer period is a crucial time for us to undertake maintenance, repair, and improvements within schools as funded by the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF).
We have a wide range of projects lined up for this summer including renovations, repairs, extensions and upgrades to classrooms, and other communal areas. These include:
- Replacement of unsafe ceilings
- Provision of new Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
- Electrical re-wiring and replacement LED lighting
- Replacement of boiler plant and controls
- Full central heating systems
- Fire alarm replacement, and emergency lighting
- Safeguarding and security improvements to entrance receptions
- Installation of new boundary fencing and gates
- Replacement of pitched roofs, and thermal insulation
- Flat roof replacement, including thermal insulation
- Fire door replacement
- Fire safety improvements
- Drainage improvements
- Window and door replacement
- Extensions to form classrooms
- Toilet refurbishments
- Gas and ventilation
- Safety improvements
Planning ahead for the next round of CIF…
In addition to working at several academy schools over summer to project manage works that were awarded CIF funding during the 2024/25 round, we are also working with several schools to start to plan and prepare their next CIF bids!
With schools being largely empty over the summer weeks, this is an ideal time for our Surveyors to access school properties to survey the buildings and grounds and assess potential CIF projects.
By conducting thorough surveys of schools and their grounds, we can identify specific areas that require attention and projects that fall in line with CIF guidance.
We are excited to embark on a summer filled with a large number of CIF funded school projects across Lancashire. School buildings are deteriorating on an annual basis, and the funds available for schools to access to improve and maintain their buildings to a suitable standard appears to be dwindling. However, by accessing our expertise, our academy school clients have been able to gain a significant level of funding, allowing us to play our role in delivering the best possible educational facilities for students and teachers.
