A number of academy schools in the Pendle area have been successful in attaining funding to improve the condition of their buildings, thanks to the support and guidance of Lea Hough’s School Building Consultants.
Lea Hough has helped seven schools in the Pendle area to obtain hundreds of thousands of pounds in funding via the Department for Education’s annual CIF, with one school receiving the funds to undertake a significant expansion project. The other successful bids include projects to improve fire safety, replace boilers, rewiring and better site security.
The schools, which are members of Pendle Education Trust and the Pennine Trust, include Colne Primet Academy, Castercliff Primary Academy, West Craven High School, Blacko Primary School, Laneshaw Bridge Primary, Colne Lord Street School and Colne Park High School.
Lea Hough advised the schools on what projects may be suitable for funding; before going on to help prepare and submit the applications for funding in winter last year. The approved projects will commence over the coming weeks and months, with the majority being completed in time for the start of the new school year in September 2022.
Chief executive of Pendle Education Trust, Anita Ghidotti, said: “We are delighted to secure over £1.2million funding for further improving the buildings the schools in our Trust family – another year of successful bids working in partnership with Lea Hough to benefit our children.”
Chief Executive of the Pennine Trust, John Tarbox, said: “We are really pleased that once again, the Trust has been awarded capital funds that will make a real difference in each of our schools.
“Since its inception, the Trust has been very successful in securing grants from several sources and through a successful partnership with Lea Hough.
“Upgrading our facilities is one of the top priorities for the trustees and we will continue to invest in developing the very best environment for our pupils.”
The schools in Pendle are just some of the tens of academy, sixth-form college and voluntary aided schools that Lea Hough worked alongside in this year’s round of CIF funding bids. Other projects that will be taking place at schools across the North West include safeguarding projects, roofing projects, window replacements, electrical re-wiring and new LED lighting, and Asbestos removal. This year, Lea Hough has had more successful CIF bids than any other school building consultant in Lancashire and Cumbria.
Over the years, our Education team has helped secure funding in excess of £45 million for schools across the North West region.
