It was recently announced that the Eden Project Morecambe has been awarded £50m in the second round of the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund.

The funding, which is estimated to be half of the required £100m total build cost, allows the project to move into the next phase. The new attraction, which is set to bring millions of pounds worth of wider investment into the Lancashire town and surrounding area, has been given the name Eden Project Morecambe (previously Eden Project North).

Described as ‘a huge boost to Morecambe and its economy’, around 300 high-quality green jobs will be directly created by Eden Project Morecambe. It is estimated that a further 1,000 additional new jobs will be created in the region as a result of the new coastal themed centre.

Furthermore, it is forecast that additional revenue brought into local businesses due to Eden Project Morecambe will exceed £50m ‘within months’ of the project opening.

Any project on this scale represents an extremely exciting opportunity for an area and the local businesses in and around it. With plans for wider investment in the town’s infrastructure and proposals to reinvent and rejuvenate Morecambe into a 21st-century seaside resort, property in the area is likely to experience a boost.

Preparation for construction on Eden Project Morecambe is due to start this year, with an opening date anticipated by 2026.
