About Chorley

Located at the foot of the West Pennine Moors in Central Lancashire, Chorley is a market town that has a wealth of history dating back to the Bronze Age, 3,500 years ago! Chorley’s Heritage Trail passes some of the town’s best sights on its hour-long trail, including the central Astley Park and the historic Chorley Market, which has been selling fresh produce since at least 1498. Local landmarks include Astley Hall, Chorley Little Theatre, Botany Bay and the Mormon Temple alongside the M61 motorway.

Chorley has several business parks, including the large Buckshaw Village development near Euxton.

The Leeds and Liverpool Canal runs parallel to Chorley and several marinas and locks are located on the Chorley area, including Botany Bay, Whittle, Adlington and Riley Green, Hoghton.  Rivington Pike at Lever Park has breath-taking views from its historic Tower, which is reputed to date as far back as 1138. Anglezarke Reservoir is nearby and this is surrounded by heather-clad moorland, perfect for gentle walks.
