Lea Hough Chartered Surveyors is a leading independent surveying practice, serving clients across the North West from offices in Blackburn, Preston, Lancaster, Clitheroe and Greater Manchester. We’ve earned a reputation for long-term client relationships, interesting and varied work, and a people-centred culture. Many of our team have undertaken their professional journeys here and grown into highly experienced MRICS or AssocRICS Surveyors.
Joining Lea Hough means being part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, with specialisms in building surveying, valuation, architectural design, and project management. We pride ourselves on a supportive and collaborative work environment where our team’s contributions are valued. No one here is “just a number”.
At Lea Hough, we believe that everyone’s career journey is unique—and we’re committed to helping our team members develop in a way that’s right for them.
Whether you’re just starting out or bringing years of experience, we provide the support, training, and opportunities needed to help you move forward. From day one, staff are encouraged to take on meaningful responsibility, gaining hands-on experience that builds both technical expertise and confidence.
We offer an environment where individuals are trusted to contribute to real projects, work directly with clients, and make a genuine impact. Our team members are supported by experienced colleagues who are always on hand to offer advice, guidance and mentorship.
As a firm, we recognise that career development isn’t one-size-fits-all. Some may want to work towards professional qualifications such as MRICS or AssocRICS, while others may be looking to deepen their expertise in a specific area or take on a leadership role. Whatever your goals, we’ll work with you to help make them a reality.

Lea Hough is actively recruiting in the following areas:
At Lea Hough, we place great importance on investing in the next generation of surveyors. Our trainee surveyors are given real responsibility from the outset, working on a wide range of projects across sectors including education, residential, and commercial property.
We offer structured, hands-on experience across all areas of our workload.
This is supported by a clear pathway to qualification, including one-to-one mentoring, regular reviews, APC mock interviews, and guidance from experienced Chartered Surveyors who are themselves RICS-accredited.
Our track record speaks for itself: many of our trainees go on to successfully qualify as Chartered Surveyors (MRICS or AssocRICS) and choose to remain with us long-term. We’re proud that a number of our current senior team members began their careers here as trainees.
At Lea Hough, you won’t just learn the technical side of surveying, you’ll build confidence, gain professional experience and be part of a firm that’s committed to your personal and professional growth every step of the way.
Our trainees gain real responsibilities and rapidly build practical skills in a collaborative environment.
We’re always keen to hear from talented, motivated individuals who are looking for a new opportunity, whatever stage you’re at in your career.
Whether you’re an experienced Chartered Surveyor seeking a fresh challenge, a graduate ready to take your first step into the profession, or someone with technical skills looking to develop in a supportive and forward-thinking environment, we’d be delighted to speak with you.
At Lea Hough, we value people who take pride in their work, want to make a difference, and are committed to their own professional growth. In return, we offer a varied workload, real responsibility, and the chance to be part of a friendly, collaborative team.
