Chris Atkinson

Role Involves:

Chris has experience in the core Building Surveying services including pre-acquisition building surveys; defect diagnosis; schedules of condition; building reinstatement cost assessments; planned maintenance and measured surveys. Chris is also an accomplished project manager and has experience in preparing drawings and specifications; managing the procurement process; and administering a variety of building contracts.

Area of expertise:

Chris has particular experience in planned refurbishment and preventative maintenance within the residential and rural sectors. His experience varies from standard refurbishment projects to project works on historic and listed buildings in particular for The Duchy of Lancaster. He has technical expertise on listed building applications and planning requirements and prepares schedules of works and technical drawings upon which construction contracts are tendered and carried out. He manages construction works on site and oversees the construction-phase to practical completion. He has a broad experience defect diagnosis and specifies remedial works to ensure buildings are successfully repaired for future years.


Career Overview:

Chris has extensive experience, having commenced work in the surveying industry as a Modern Apprentice in 2002. Chris graduated from the University of Salford in 2009 with a degree in Building Surveying, and then became a Member of the RICS in 2015, qualifying as a Chartered Building Surveyor. Chris’s initial experience was in social housing. He was a design technician and building surveyor responsible for managing responsive repairs and void refurbishment works to 1,200 properties in the Ribble Valley. After becoming Chartered, Chris joined private practice with a desire to promote and develop professional and core building surveying services and project management in the Lancashire area.


When Not in Work:

Out of work Chris enjoys spending time with his family, he enjoys walking, cycling, running and most other sports.
