Aiden Cotton

Role Involves:

As is the norm for Building Surveyors in professional practice, Aiden’s role is varied – he covers a variety of surveying tasks, on a mixture of property types, for clients from different sectors.

He undertakes survey inspections and prepares Condition Survey Reports, writes Specifications and prepares drawings, obtains tender prices from contractors and oversees building projects such as repairs, refurbishments, conversions and extensions.  Where required, he will also provide advice in respect of Planning Applications and Building Regulations and architectural design.

Area of expertise:

Having practical know-how, having worked within the construction industry since he was 16, as well as having gained a degree in Building Surveying, Aiden has a rounded understanding of property and construction methods.  Aiden’s particular area of expertise is in undertaking condition surveys, and preparing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schemes, after having undertaken survey inspections upon a vast stock of properties for a large utilities provider.


Career Overview:

Aiden has been involved in the construction industry, ever since leaving school, initially as a bricklayer for several years, constructing new-build houses.  Aiden later became an Instructor at Blackpool and the Fylde College.

Then, Aiden studied for a degree in Building Surveying, at Salford University. After graduating in 2015, Aiden worked as a Building Surveyor at a professional consultancy in Greater Manchester, until 2018 when he joined Lea Hough Chartered Surveyors.

Aiden is progressing towards becoming a Chartered Building Surveyor by following Lea Hough’s structured training programme that is approved by the RICS.


When not in work:

Aiden is a keen weekend golfer. He also enjoy cooking, camping, walking and socialising with friends and family.
