Property: Spiritualist Church, Blackburn
Project: New build Spiritualist Church
Value: £625,000
Project Overview:
Lea Hough were appointed by The Spiritualists’ National Union to represent them in the design and construction of a new build Church. All works were paid for via Capita, with whom we had to liaise throughout.
Capita were managing the construction of a new ring road in Blackburn, which resulted in compulsory purchase of the Spiritualists’ existing Church.
Lea Hough Role:
Lea Hough was responsible for the full delivery of the Church from inception through to completion.
A site was identified and Lea Hough were appointed to prepare and agree designs, obtain Planning Permission, prepare budget costs, obtain Building Regulations Approval, prepare detailed specifications and tender packages, invite tender prices from contractors, and carry out full project management/contract administration as well as the role of CDM Coordinator throughout. We also appointed sub-consultant mechanical and electrical engineers, and a sub-consultant structural engineer to assist with the detailed design and specification.
Project Outcome:
The Church was constructed in 2013, with the date stone being laid by the President of The Spiritualists’ Union, and with a large opening ceremony in late 2013. Works were again successfully completed within the allocated budget and entirely on programme.
