The Ribble Valley is so called due to the River Ribble which flows towards its estuary near Preston. The borough is at the heart of Lancashire and is extremely popular thanks to its natural unspoilt beauty, much of which lies within the Forest of Bowland, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
