About Darwen

Darwen is a quintessential Lancastrian cotton town, situated between Blackburn and Bolton. Darwen is located within a valley amid the West Pennine Moors and just off the M65. With its own river flowing through the town, Darwen also has two main landmarks – Darwen Tower (Jubilee Tower), which stands on top of Darwen Moor and overlooks the town and dates from 1898; and India Mill Chimney that was built in 1867 to serve the important textile building.

The town has strong manufacturing links and has been home to the likes of Crown Paints, Akzo Nobel, ICI and WEC Group. Nearby to Darwen are villages such as Tockholes and Hoddlesden.
